Dave Sterling has been composing and performing original piano music since writing his first two compositions at age four. Dave was classically trained on the piano, but the significant influences of jazz, ragtime, country and rock are also evident in his performance and compositions. His experience includes solo and ensemble performances across these genres, both in the US and across Europe. As his musical profile developed, Dave ultimately found his calling in contemporary instrumental piano music, following in the path of artists such as David Lanz, John Tesh, and David Arkenstone. Dave’s music is best described as beautiful and energetic compositions, complemented by engaging orchestral accompaniment. His focus is on original compositions, which are inspired by the many people, places, and experiences that have been part of his life. The varied musical influences in his life contribute to a wonderful collection of sounds and energy that are appealing to audiences with diverse tastes. As Bill Binkelman of New Age Reporter writes, Dave “has plenty of talent when it comes to crafting enjoyable and easily accessible adult contemporary music.” Binkelman also notes that Sterling “has some mighty fine chops” and a knack for “catchy melodies and can’t-get-them-out-of-your head hooks”. RJ Lannan, also of New Age Reporter, concurs, exclaiming that “with just one listen you will become a fan.” Sterling’s music has been featured in concerts, videos, dance performances, and promotional materials. Dave’s second studio recording, “Along the Curve” has achieved airplay on over 200 stations in the United States and worldwide. It has received very positive reviews, and was #5 on the New Age Reporter Airwaves Top 100 Chart for February, 2007, and #6 for March, 2007. Likewise, several Japanese radio stations have done extended features on the CD, and the Italian magazine “New Age Music and New Sounds” featured Sterling and “Along the Curve” in their April, 2007 issue. Dave is working with noted Dallas arranger, composer, and conductor
Steve Bayless, having several of his compositions transcribed for
orchestra. All of these songs will be
available for performance with piano and symphonic groups of any size.
